City of Parramatta seeks Fitness Australia registered Exercise Professionals
Help older Australians get active with new City of Parramatta subsidy
City of Parramatta Council is offering local sport, fitness and exercise professionals the chance to help improve the physical health of older Australians through its new Better Ageing Fitness Development Subsidy Program.
For the first time, qualified professionals working in the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA) can apply for a subsidy of up to $800 to undertake an eligible professional development course to better engage with people aged over 65.
With thanks to Sport Australia’s Move It AUS, City of Parramatta Council has been awarded funding from the Better Ageing Grant Program. This program aims to improve the overall health and wellbeing of older Australians (aged 65 and over) by increasing their physical activity levels. We’re looking for fitness professionals who want to build their skills in this area and facilitate this goal.
To be eligible:
- You must be a qualified sport, fitness, or exercise professional who works in the Parramatta LGA.
- Be over 18 years old.
- The nominated professional development course must be recognised by Fitness Australia.
- The nominated professional development course must be taken after the application submission date. Funding for courses already taken or certifications already granted are not eligible.
- Applicants can only receive one subsidy.
The first round of applications opened on 2 December 2019 and close on 31 January 2020, followed by two other rounds later in the year.
Council is delivering the Better Ageing Fitness Development Subsidy Program thanks to $289,000 in funding from Sport Australia’s Move It AUS - Better Ageing Grant Program.
