Amendments to the APRA | AMCOS licencing scheme
Fitness Australia and the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA|AMCOS) have negotiated a new agreement for the public performance of background music in fitness centres.
For your fitness business the licence covers:
- the use of music in fitness classes
- the use of music as background music
- the use of music for music on hold, and
- copying music for the above purposes
Fitness Australia's CEO Lauretta Stace has said:
“We had identified a need across our member base to be able to provide optimum background music solutions without having to be concerned about counting the numbers of music devices and television sets. This new tariff does just that and importantly it will not increase industry-wide aggregate licence fees paid to APRA|AMCOS for background music by their licensees”.
