The upper limb injury prevention & collaborative rehabilitation strategies workshop looks at common basic injuries that may exist with a trainer’s client base. The aim for the trainer attending is to come away with a sound understanding of common and simple injuries and to clearly understand a trainers role and responsibility in this situation.
It also explores a trainer’s role in collaboration with other allied health professionals via the referral process. How a trainer can communicate, refer and modify exercise prescription with the guidance of the appropriate allied health practitioner in order to bring about the best possible outcome for their client.
The workshop includes the following topics:
- What is the referral process?
- How can a trainer utilise this process?
- Setting up a referral template
- Importance of a modified exercise plan
- Recovery vs Prevention - the difference
- The Role and Responsibility of the Personal Trainer
- Understanding the anatomy of the shoulder, elbow and wrist
- Understand the role of muscles acting on these three main joints
The practical component of the workshop looks at a number of modified exercises that can greatly assist the client in reaching a successful recovery. Exercises taught also include ones aimed at preventing injury in the first place. Specific exercises for specific conditions are covered.
Theoretical component of this course focuses trainers gathering a solid understanding the basic pathology of common conditions & injuries all related to the upper limb which are analysed and discussed during the workshop, these include the following:
- All types of fractures
- Difference between tendonopothy, tendonitis & tendinosis
- Joint Sprains
- Muscle Strains
- Understanding pain and the inflammation process in the body initial after injury.
The workshop then moves into specific upper limb injuries such as:
- Various Shoulder Rotator Cuff Syndromes & Injuries
- Common Postural Related Issues
- Frozen Shoulder
- Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
- Shoulder Dislocation/Subluxation
- Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)
- Golfer's Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)
- Wrist Sprain
- Wrist fracture
- Wrist Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A full detailed training manual is provided which covers all theoretical components in detail and includes all exercises with photos included that were taught in this workshop.

One on One Workshops!!
One on one workshops and two on one workshops were introduced in 2015 and really took off. Trainers really get more out of a private session. They get to ask more questions and Dale is really able to pay more attention to technique and theory.
Workshops are delivered at the Caulfield campus based in Melbourne which has a fully equipped gym and classroom to ensure a positive learning experience.

Personal Training Workshop Company - Founder/Director - Dale Cronin B.App.Sc/Ex.Science
Dale Cronin began his career in the fitness industry over 16 years ago. He kick started his career by completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Exercise Science at the Australian Catholic University and during this time, began working as a Personal Trainer. his extensive knowledge and energetic nature, Dale quickly established a stable client base which he still maintains today.
He has been lecturing the certificate III & IV in fitness education for over 14 years, and through his experience at different Registered Training Organisations, has developed into a first class lecturer and presenter.
Dale has also written, developed and presents all the fully accredited fitness courses listed above which are all aimed towards current qualified personal trainers needing to upgrade their knowledge and skill in order to maintain their qualifications. Dale currently offers seven fully accredited workshops and is developing new ones.
