The therapeutic benefits of Qigong exercise have been known for centuries. Integrating modern exercise science and the ancient healing art, the Qigong for Health and Fitness program is designed to improve the energy system, stimulate energy flow, balance and improve energy level. It aims to enhance oxidation and improve metabolism, thereby reducing the risk of metabolic syndromes such as coronary heart disease, diabetes and obesity. This special Qigong program is also designed to increase muscle strength; prevent bone demineralization, thereby reducing the risk of osteoporosis; improve mobility, flexibility, coordination and balance; and manage stress and achieve mental and physical relaxation.
The course is co-presented by Dr Henry Zheng (PhD UNSW), a research fellow in physical activity for primary prevention and rehabilitation, and Alice L Yuan, a leading international Tai Chi and Qigong authority and national Tai Chi and Qigong Accreditation head instructor.
