On April 30 2020, the Northern Territory (NT) government announced a three step principles-based roadmap for the reopening of businesses and services, including gyms across the Territory.
The NT Government has created a guide to help you restart your business while managing your safety responsibilities around coronavirus (COVID-19).
Prior to resuming operation all businesses and organisations to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.
COVID-19 Safety Plan
You must a have COVID-19 Safety Plan to show how you will meet your requirements around the key principles of physical distancing and hygiene practices.
By completing the online COVID-19 Safety Plan checklist relevant to your business or organisation, you will be able to demonstrate how you will meet the required physical distancing and hygiene rules.
What is the checklist COVID-19 Safety Plan Checklist?
This is a tool for business and community groups to see how they will manage their obligations regarding applying the physical distancing and hygiene principles prior to the opening of their service. The checklist asks a series of questions regarding these principles of COVID-19. The checklist can be found here under the sub-heading "Sport and active recreation organisations"
By 5 June all Territory businesses, services, facilities and organisations should have their own COVID-19 Safety Plan.
After you apply
Once you submit your checklist, you will immediately be emailed a summary of your submission which you can use/ display as an interim approval until you receive a statement of commitment. This may take up to 14 days.
An environmental health officer will visit you in the coming weeks to carry out a compliance check to ensure you are meeting your responsibilities as outlined in your COVID-19 safety plan.
