“Right now in Australia there are, in terms of the bigger clubs or chains, a little over eighteen hundred gyms. Over one-thousand of those are 24/7 clubs – they were build and designed to be 24/7 – that’s a little less than 60%."
"On the other end of the spectrum are lots of other businesses out there which are the complete opposite – the boutique studios, small studios, the outdoor businesses," says Bill Moore CEO of Fitness Australia, the peak fitness industry association as he shares his thoughts on the current industry landscape.
"I’m not saying that era is over, but what I am staying is that when the majority of clubs in Australia do not provide a full services – we’ve been through size-mick change, and that’s what’s very interesting to me."
