Blakehurst Local Wins Fitness Educator of the Year at 2020 Australian Fitness Awards

Blakehurst Local Wins Fitness Educator of the Year at 2020 Australian Fitness Awards

13-May-2020

The fifth 2020 virtual Australian Fitness Awards ceremony took place today with Jono Petrohilos, founder of Fitness Education Online announced as the national winner of the Educator of the Year award.

Held by the nation’s peak fitness industry body, Fitness Australia, the Awards recognise and celebrate individuals, businesses and community groups dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Australians by providing exceptional programs and high quality professional services.

The annual event is the only national awards program dedicated to the fitness industry and received a record 2,000 nominations across eleven categories for individuals, businesses and community groups.

Boasting more than seven years’ experience as a fitness education provider and having a plethora of qualifications under his belt, award recipient, Jono Petrohilos is committed to upholding the highest professional development standards, in order to further educate the fitness industry as a whole via his online education platform, Fitness Education Online.

In the last two years alone, Jono’s commitment to upskilling and professional development has seen him attend seven fitness conferences, three personal development conventions, two public speaking / communication skills workshops, six social media/marketing conventions, complete two CEC courses and hire two business coaches.

Jono has been recognised for his outstanding commitment and contribution to the fitness industry, which is further highlighted through his forward thinking and creative delivery in making his courses more entertaining for his students to aid the learning process.

In an effort to create a fun atmosphere to encourage students to stay engaged in both online and offline learning modules, Jono hired Las Vegas comedian Matt Kazam as the Fitness Education Online “humour coach”.

With the vision for Fitness Education Online to be the global “go-to” for all fitness upskilling and training needs, Jono views the fitness industry holistically to ensure any trainer from around the world can access top quality courses from a vast array of methods and techniques.

Fitness Australia CEO, Barrie Elvish, congratulated the Australian Fitness Award winners and said the award recipients’ stories of commitment and excellence were outstanding.

“Every Award winner has demonstrated the upmost dedication to the health and wellbeing of their communities through consistently delivering high quality services in a professional and safe manner,” said Mr Elvish.

An expert panel, consisting of a diverse group of industry representatives, conducted a thorough assessment of each finalist across a range of areas including professionalism, customer care, knowledge and skills, safety, and leadership to select the category winners.

The next virtual award ceremony will take place on Tuesday May 19 and will announce this year’s Community Activation Award, sponsored by Guild Super.
