MEMBER ALERT: Information and support during the Coronavirus outbreak
I’m reaching out to you again on behalf of Fitness Australia in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-9) outbreak. The good health and wellness of our members and your communities are our top priority during this time.
We know that you practice good hygiene - now we’re encouraging you and your customers to be extra vigilant with your hygiene practices as instructed by the World Health Organisation and the Australian government.
Follow preventative measures to reduce risks of the spread of the Coronavirus.
Reminders and recommendations to your customers can include:
- Use hand sanitiser or wash your hands regularly
- Proactively use wipes to disinfect equipment after every use
- Limit skin contact like hugging, kissing, high-5s
- Coronavirus isn’t transmitted by sweat itself
- Don’t use your hands to wipe your face, use a towel
- If returning from higher-risk countries, stay away and self-isolate for 14 days
- If you have any flu like symptoms isolate yourself and call a doctor
Remember that people need to go about their normal daily lives which includes keeping fit and healthy!
Prepare your business to manage workplace relations and obligations.
- Know your employer obligations
- Plan for flexible employee working arrangements
- Know your customer ‘on-hold’ policy
- Keep your team safe, healthy & taking the right action if feeling unwell
- Reinforce and implement workplace safety policies and procedures
- Keep a record of everyone visiting your facility including date and time
- Advise your other customers and medical authorities if a customer or team member has Coronavirus
- Keep a look out for potential financial support by government
Keep up regular communication with your team.
- Keep your team safe, healthy & taking the right action if feeling unwell
- Ensure that there are adequate supplies through the facility for washing hands and cleaning equipment
- Post signage throughout your site that reminds people to disinfect equipment after use
- Remind staff to also disinfect door handles and table tops in staff areas
- Have staff constantly modelling best hygiene practice and remind others of what to do
