A healthy and productive workplace should be available to everyone. Right now it’s not. Currently, only businesses with onsite fitness facilities are entitled to a Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) exemption for fitness services provided to their workforce.
Fitness Australia wants to create an even playing field and extend this right to small and medium-sized businesses which account for 70% of the jobs in Australia, not just those that have an onsite fitness facility.
We want the fitness industry to take action, to unlock the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and the exemptions available for fitness services provided to the Australian workforce.
Currently the FBT is a major inhibitor to workplace health, with exemptions available only to large businesses with on-site fitness facilities. The aim of the UnlockFBT campaign is to create an even playing field and extend the same right to small and medium businesses, which account for 70% of the jobs in Australia.
The fitness industry has the facilities, professionals and infrastructure to provide this benefit to all Australian workers.
When more Australians become physically active, fit and healthy businesses will have less absenteeism, and more engagement helping to create a stronger economy
